Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., Ltd. (President: Dr. Yuzuru Matsuda) announces that Kyowa Pharmaceutical, Inc. (New Jersey, United States, President: Kazuyoshi Tachibana), its 100% U.S subsidiary, is planning to continue the clinical development of KW-6002, its adenosine A2A receptor antagonist. Phase III clinical trials are being prepared for initiation during 3rd quarter, 2004. Over the past six months, Kyowa has conducted an extensive evaluation of the available data related to the unexpected findings in non-clinical study. Based on that evaluation and review by external experts, Kyowa is now planning for Phase III clinical trials. These trials are being designed to lead to submission of marketing applications to the US regulatory authorities during 2006. KW-6002 is a novel anti Parkinson’s drug that has a specific antagonistic action on the Adenosine A2A receptor in the brain. We believe it would make significant contribution toward providing relief for various symptoms that many Parkinson’s disease patients are suffering. Kyowa Pharmaceutical, Inc. |
